The Serhii Winogradsky Club, in collaboration with the National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,” has launched the First Serhii Winogradsky International Summer School.

The aim of the project is to create a dynamic and modern communication platform where school-aged youth can immerse themselves in open scientific and creative dialogue, enhance their research skills, develop self-presentation and teamwork abilities, and engage in collaborative inquiry. Participants will have the opportunity to access cutting-edge popular science insights directly from leading international speakers, explore the history of their native regions, and discover the scientific legacy of Ukrainian scholars whose groundbreaking contributions have earned global recognition.

This project was made possible thanks to the generous support of our patrons:

The family of Professor of Medicine Mykola Gumeniuk

The Up To Future Civil Society Organization

The Department of Education of the Horodok Municipal Community

The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Khmelnytskyi National University

The participants are school students from the Khmelnytskyi region, particularly from the town of Horodok, who are passionate about creativity and exploring the natural world. Many of them are prize-winners of the Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in the field of natural sciences.

The Winogradsky International Summer School will take place from August 9 to August 18, 2024, at the Winogradsky School educational space (address: 20/1 Shevchenko Street, Gorodok, G-Museum).

The official opening ceremony will be held on August 10, 2024, at 11:30 AM, at the Winogradsky School (4th floor, G-Museum, 20/1 Shevchenko Street, Gorodok).

The collaboration between the National Center “Junior Academy of Sciences of Ukraine,” the Khmelnytskyi Regional Center for Student Scientific and Technical Creativity, and the NGO "Technology Transfer Office 'Up To Future'" began in June 2024 with the signing of a trilateral memorandum of cooperation. It was at that moment that the idea of launching the Winogradsky International Summer School was born.

The Winogradsky International Summer School offers a unique opportunity for high school students to gain hands-on experience in an innovative biology laboratory, deepen their knowledge of the natural sciences, and better understand the crucial role these disciplines play in the development of modern multi-component technologies. Participants will also explore real-life Ukrainian startup cases currently being implemented in industrial production or undergoing international technology transfer (based on examples from the "Up To Future" innovation portfolio). Moreover, students will have the chance to join a startup team and develop their own project from concept to presentation

The Winogradsky International Summer School program includes:

  • Lectures and seminars focused on developing both hard and soft skills, unlocking personal potential, building critical and systems thinking abilities, presenting and defending individual projects (case studies), effective teamwork, communication mastery, and leadership;

  • Hands-on laboratory sessions and field research activities;

  • Excursions to museums and other culturally significant sites across the Horodok and Sataniv communities;

  • Opportunities for creative exchange and informal dialogue.
